Job summary

Omega Design Corp. in Exton, PA is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician 3 to assemble, wire, and test packaging automation machinery and electrical panels.

You will interpret mechanical drawings, work with hand and power tools, and mentor lower-level technicians to ensure high-quality production. The role is based in Exton, PA with on-site responsibilities and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years related work history.
  • Knowledge of industrial wiring practices, UL standards, and electrical theory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial machine wiring circuits.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly with attention to quality.
  • Familiarity with diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing process machinery and controls.
  • Ability to follow wiring diagrams and schematics to build and wire machine control panels.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret project specifications and drawings; mentor junior technicians in blueprint and schematic interpretation.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager to align with schedules and improve procedures.
  • Develop and revise standard operating practices with supervision.
  • Support start-up and testing of machines during commissioning.

Job description

We need you to help assemble, Wire and test packaging automation machinery, along with its electrical panels and subassemblies.

Our products help bring essential products safely and efficiently through the supply chain. As our Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician 3, you'll be the one who creates these amazing machines. You'll ensure all products are crafted with the utmost quality by:


Your immediate contributions will be to:


Responsible for performing tasks associated within the wide scope of mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and guarding of machines with no Supervision or direction from the Production Manager or a Production Lead.


Interprets and follows instructions on project specifications, mechanical, and electrical drawings and schematics, and processes. Ability to mentor the Production Tech 1 in blueprint and schematic interpretation.


Expert knowledge in the proper and safe use of hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools including but not limited to screwdrivers, wrenches, cordless drill, corded drill, belt sander, voltmeter, oscilloscope) and precision measuring tools (scale, tape measure, micrometer, calipers)


Helps the Production Manager and Production Leads develop or revise standard operational and working practices.


Consults with engineering personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.


Ability to work in a team environment.


Confers with Production Manager and Production Leads to coordinate activities in individual areas.


Recommends adjustments to work procedures in order to meet production schedules and helps implement them.


Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.


Demonstrates an understanding of parts lists and corresponding item numbers. Initiates corrective actions via the Engineering or Materials Department.


Proficient in the ability to use fabricating and machining equipment (TIG welding, minor Machine Shop tasks, sheet metal fabrication, rail building)


May assist the Production Lead during start-up and testing of a machine


Applies the ability to document, compile, and retrieve production data.


Utilizes his/her experience to mentor the Assembly Technicians 1 and 2 with assembly and electrical procedures.


Additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Production Lead


YOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

Must have:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least 3-5 years of related work history.


Possess quality focus, sound judgment and decision making


Ability to lift to 30 pounds frequently


Extensive knowledge of industrial wiring practices, UL standards, and electrical theory


Ability and high proficiency in troubleshooting industrial machine wiring circuits


Provide electrical/electronic and mechanical diagnostics, preventative and predictive maintenance perform repairs to process machinery, equipment and controls


Familiarity with VFDs, Servo Drives, and other various drive control components


Knowledge and experience with troubleshooting tools such as electric meter and oscilloscope


Ability to follow wiring diagrams and schematics to build and wire machine control panels


Can start up and download settings into various electrical components on the machines i.e. (low pressure switch, HMI set-up)
