Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our Defense Systems Manufacturing Platform Integration Facility. You will interpret drawings, build and test electrical and mechanical assemblies for DoD programs, and work closely with engineers and customers to meet unique requirements.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing, familiarity with wiring, hand tools, and basic fabrication.

  • High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of aerospace manufacturing experience or equivalent training.
  • Experience reading schematic drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience building and installing electrical and/or mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiar with basic hand tools, torque wrenches, and wire crimping tools.
  • Ability to perform cable fabrication work and read color-coded schematics.

Leidos’ Defense Systems Manufacturing Platform Integration Facility (PIF) is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. The ideal candidate will thrive in learning environments that encourage leadership and technical growth. Experienced individual will work closely with a team of engineers and customers to design and build hardware to meet unique technical requirements. Selected candidate will bring a diverse set of skills and an aptitude for solving complex problems. You will interpret drawings and use critical thinking to not only build and fabricate production and prototype hardware, as well as test and deploy the hardware. This posting is for multiple opportunities ranging in years of experience. Level of opportunity, including compensation, will be matched to a candidate's experience. Primary Responsibilities

Interpretation of drawings, using critical thinking, not only building and fabricating production hardware, but test and deploy as well. Building Electrical and/or mechanical systems for the DoD.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED with at least 1 year of experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment or related experience and/or training.
  • Experience reading schematic drawings and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience building and installing electrical and/or mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiar with basic hand tools, torque wrenches, and wire crimping tools.
  • Ability to perform cable fabrication work.
  • Manual Dexterity: High degree of finger and hand dexterity to strip thin wires, crimp tiny terminals, and perform detailed assembly.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and demonstrate a good work ethic and responsibility.
  • Visual Acuity: Strong near-vision and color discrimination to identify specific wire colors, read microscopic gauge labels, and route cables according to schematics.
  • Physical Posture: Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Frequent lifting and transfer of production kits and spools weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Good communication skills, working well on a team with diverse skillsets, working in a production environment, and a willingness to take on a variety of duties to help the team be successful.
  • Occasional overtime required as operational needs demand.

Candidate must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville-North Alabama area. Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Costpoint/Solumina/Agile/Windchill.
  • Planning/Scheduling Experience.
  • IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification.

Pay Range: Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00
