Job summary

Teradyne is seeking an Electro-Mechanical - Supply Line Engineer in Agoura Hills, CA to manage supply-line processes for complex electro-mechanical assemblies used in advanced test systems. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure quality, manufacturability, and cost targets are met through the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include translating design intent into supplier requirements, performing DFx and supplier qualification, and driving improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in supplier engineering, product engineering, process development, quality engineering, or electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical design intent, mechanical fit and function, electrical interfaces, material selection, manufacturing variation, measurement methods, test requirements, and process controls.
• Experience with electro-mechanical assembly processes such as precision mechanical fabrication, cable or harness integration, connector installation, torque and fastening controls, alignment, bonding, labeling, inspection, functional testing, and final assembly validation.
• Experience with supplier and assembly qualification, first article inspection, bill of materials and drawing reviews, design for manufacturability, PFMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical process control, Gage R&R, inspection planning, and root cause and corrective action.
• Ability to translate design intent and product documentation into supplier requirements, measurable controls, inspection strategies, test expectations, and qualification plans.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across engineering, operations, commodity management, supplier quality, and external suppliers, with the ability to manage multiple new product introduction and lifecycle priorities.
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Support complex electro-mechanical assemblies used in advanced test systems, ensuring they meet technical, quality, cost, schedule, and manufacturability requirements.
• Partner early with design engineering to influence architecture, material selection, manufacturing methods, critical specifications, and supplier selection.
• Translate drawings, BOMs, assembly documentation, and functional requirements into supplier deliverables, qualification plans, inspection methods, test expectations, process controls, and acceptance criteria.
• Assess and qualify suppliers through design-for-manufacturability reviews, supplier assessments, process capability studies, measurement system analysis, pilot builds, audits, first article reviews, and production-readiness evaluations.
• Develop suppliers for electro-mechanical assemblies including mechanical components, electrical interfaces, harnesses, cables, connectors, sensors, actuators, fixtures, tooling, and related subassemblies.
• Collaborate across design, manufacturing engineering, operations, supplier quality, commodity management, and supplier teams to identify risk, resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and improve yield, reliability, capacity, and process maturity.
• Support lifecycle readiness through vendor alignment, supplier change control, product change and end-of-life reviews, alternate sourcing, and continuity-of-supply planning.

Opportunity Overview

Teradyne’s Supply Base Management Engineering team is seeking a Supply Line Engineer to support complex electro-mechanical assemblies used in advanced test systems. You will help ensure custom assemblies meet technical, quality, cost, schedule, and manufacturability requirements by connecting product intent with capable supplier processes, inspection methods, functional testing, and production controls from new product introduction through the full product lifecycle

Partner early with design engineering to influence architecture, material selection , manufacturing methods, critical specifications, and supplier selection .

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, datum strategy, electrical and mechanical interface requirements, CMM, vision and other inspection methods, functional test expectations, and measurement correlation.

Experience with cable and connector integration, fixture and tooling reviews, torque and fastening requirements, adhesive or bonding processes, plating, coating, surface finish, and cosmetic requirements.

Experience with fixture design, mistake-proofing tooling, inspection plans, supplier process validation, electro-mechanical functional test validation, bill of materials verification, qualification documentation, and new product introduction phase-gate deliverables.

Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent data-driven quality experience.

Experience working with a global supply base.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $96,200 - $154,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan

This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
