Job summary

ITC Defense Corp. is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Controls Engineer to support DoD facilities programs at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

The role focuses on electro-mechanical systems, facility controls, and associated infrastructure within MILCON, SRM, and activation efforts. You will work with government customers, A&E partners, and contractors to plan, design, implement, test, and commission control systems, review drawings and specs, and provide technical guidance to project teams.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Possesses or can obtain a PE license with 5+ years experience or Master’s degree with 5+ years experience.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, facility controls, and related infrastructure.
  • Ability to review drawings, specs, calculations, and installation documents.

Responsibilities

  • Support MILCON/SRM and activation projects through planning, design, and documentation.
  • Provide engineering support for electro-mechanical systems and facility controls.
  • Coordinate with Government customers, A&E firms, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop and review scopes, calculations, drawings, and procurement documents.

  • Support construction surveillance, testing, commissioning, and closeout activities.

  • Prepare technical reports and briefings for Government leadership.

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville AL

Position: Electro-Mechanical Controls Engineer

Overview

ITC Defense is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Controls Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Facilities, MILCON, and Environmental Management Directorate at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. This position is part of a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting mission-critical DoD facilities and infrastructure programs, with an emphasis on electro-mechanical systems, facility controls, and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Government Project Manager through the planning, programming, design, execution, and documentation of Military Construction (MILCON), Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM), facility improvement, and site-activation projects
  • Provide engineering support for electro-mechanical systems, facility controls, electrical and mechanical equipment, and associated facility infrastructure, including evaluation of system requirements, existing conditions, equipment interfaces, installation requirements, and technical issues
  • Coordinate facility design, construction, installation, testing, activation, and operational activities with Government customers, host installations, Architecture and Engineering (A&E) firms, executing agencies, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders
  • Develop and review engineering and facility acquisition products, including scopes of work, calculations, drawings, specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, equipment and vendor requirements, proposal evaluations, cost estimates, schedules, technical analyses, and project documentation
  • Review design and construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, equipment documentation, and installation packages, and participate in project planning sessions, design charrettes, design reviews, technical meetings, and schedule/status reviews
  • Support construction surveillance, system installation, testing, checkout, commissioning, and project closeout activities, evaluating field conditions, installation quality, design compliance, system functionality, and technical issues affecting project execution
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD designers/drafters, designers, engineers, technicians, and other project team members and assist in resolving complex engineering, installation, and facility-integration issues
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, engineering documentation, project status reports, information papers, briefings, and other decision-support materials for Government and program leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 7+ years of relevant engineering experience. The following substitutions may apply:
    • Master's degree in Engineering plus 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license plus 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated engineering experience supporting electro-mechanical systems, facility controls, electrical and mechanical equipment, or related facility infrastructure within complex facilities or industrial environments
  • Experience supporting the planning, design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and/or sustainment of facility systems and infrastructure
  • Ability to review and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment requirements, control-system documentation, construction documents, schedules, and other technical information to identify requirements, system interfaces, technical issues, and recommended solutions
  • Experience supporting facility programming, planning, budgeting, design, construction, and project execution, including management or coordination of project requirements, schedules, costs, and technical deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply analytical tools, techniques, and processes to complex engineering, facility, and operational requirements
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple priorities, solve complex technical problems, and provide technical guidance to project team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation and present complex engineering information to Government and senior leadership audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS, as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, if required
  • Degree concentration in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Experience with facility automation, Building Automation Systems (BAS), industrial controls, instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), control panels, motor controls, sensors, actuators, or related electro-mechanical control systems
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical equipment integration, troubleshooting, testing, checkout, and commissioning within facility or industrial environments
  • Previous experience supporting MDA, DoD, or other Federal facility engineering, MILCON, SRM, site-activation, or infrastructure programs
  • Knowledge of DoD facility acquisition, configuration management, and project documentation requirements, including DD Form 1391 and DD Form 1354
  • Working knowledge of USACE, NAVFAC, Air Force Civil Engineer, or military installation Directorate of Public Works (DPW) construction-project execution processes
  • Familiarity with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), and other DoD facility design and construction standards.
