Lako is on the lookout for a Design Engineer to delve into the world of machine component and parts design. Join our engineering crew as we expand our horizons. This position is steeped in mechanical design but calls for a savvy individual who can seamlessly connect and even design automated systems. Your mission: contribute to projects aimed at enhancing and innovating our designs for the future.

Design & Engineering
  • Design precision mechanical and electro‑mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Create and maintain production‑ready drawings, including GD&T and tight tolerance features (up to ±0.0001)
  • Review existing mechanical systems to understand functionality, operation, and improvement opportunities
  • Develop new part designs, revisions, and engineering changes to support product evolution
Electrical & Electro‑Mechanical Integration
  • Support the integration of electrical components such as sensors, motors, wiring, heaters, and controls into mechanical designs
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Assist with troubleshooting electro‑mechanical issues during build, testing, and production
Manufacturing & Shop Support
  • Provide engineering support to the manufacturing floor, machinists, and assembly teams
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collaborate on root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with machining and assembly capabilities
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and cost
Documentation & Project Support
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision histories
  • Assist with tooling and fixture design as needed
  • Support internal and external technical discussions with vendors and suppliers
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and cross‑functional coordination
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and practical experience will be considered
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
  • 3–5 years of relevant electro‑mechanical or mechanical engineering experience
  • Manufacturing, machining, or shop‑floor experience strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and detailed drawings)
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, tolerances, and materials
  • Working knowledge of electrical and electro‑mechanical components
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication skills across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
  • Office and manufacturing floor environment
  • Occasional lifting, standing, and interaction with production equipment
  • Use of PPE as required in shop areas
