Job summary

Foster Poultry Farms is seeking an Electronic Technician to design, install, maintain and troubleshoot plant instrumentation and control devices, including PLC programming. The role partners with supervisors and processing teams to ensure safe, reliable operations and high-quality products.

Candidate must have HS diploma or equivalent, 3+ years in industrial electrical work, and strong English reading/writing skills.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years industrial electrical experience.

Position Summary

The Electronic Technician position designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots plant instrumentation and control devices including installation and programming of PLCs. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

Fryer Grader - Broken Stick Observation

• Performs a variety of duties including repair, testing and maintenance tasks related to the Corndog facility.
• Design and/or upgrade/install plant instruments and control devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and re-build equipment as necessary.
• Don proper Protective Equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor
• Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
• Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
• Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in a fast pace work environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation and clean up preferred.
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
• Must be able to safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
• Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must have the ability to maintain current and accurate records of work performed.
• Must have the ability to operate a variety of electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Must have the ability to research, design, install, program and maintain programmable logic controls.
• Must have knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering.
• Must have the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Must have the ability to operate digital keyboards, digital metering devices, soldering equipment, and small hand tools.
• Must have the ability to monitor/interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
• Must have a minimum of three (3) years on job experience in industrial electrical filed.
