Job summary

VWI is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to service electrical systems across the facility and Central Utilities Plant. You will troubleshoot, repair, install, and perform preventive maintenance on a range of electrical equipment as part of a mission-focused team.

You will be responsible for maintaining drawings, schematics, and conformance with NFPA 70E arc-flash safety, as well as completing PM and work orders in a timely, professional manner.

Qualifications

• Be able to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Be able to understand manufacture’s submittals and literature.
• Be able to understand national electrical codes, life safety codes, NFPA 70E Arc Flash protections.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install and perform PM on all electrical systems within facilities and CUP.
• Maintain lighting through regular checks and replacement of defective parts as per policy.
• Repair switchgear, distribution equipment, and other electrical equipment per specs.
• Maintain one-line drawings and distribution maps for campus electrical system.
• Keep records of electrical PM and corrective maintenance; perform tests as required.
• Install wiring, switches, receptacles and other electrical devices per national codes.
• Perform tasks in rooms for electrical systems including nurse call, lighting, TV, receptacles.
• Repair/install devices such as fixtures, switches, ballast, motors.
• Install conduit and related boxes; perform PM on various electrical devices.
• Participate in monthly emergency generator testing; follow Lock Out Tag Out policies.
• Complete Work Orders and PM paperwork in a timely, professional manner.

What You’ll Do

The Electrician trouble shoots, repairs, installs, and performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all electrical systems within the facilities, the Central Utilities Plant (CUP), and other buildings related to the contract by performing the following duties. This position requires a Journeyman’s license with both mechanical and electrical aptitudes.

• Ensures that lighting throughout the facility is in working order through regular maintenance checks, replacement of defective parts, and repairs as required according to policies.


• Performs the maintenance and repair of electrical switchgear and distribution equipment, kitchen equipment, and other electrical equipment in accordance with specifications.


• Perform maintenance and repair on large systems including (but not limited to) pneumatic tubes system, nurse call system, emergency power, lighting controls, mass notification, and fire alarm system. Maintain a current competency for these systems.


• Remain knowledgeable and proficient with the electrical distribution system for each building on campus. Create and maintain both single–line drawings and distribution maps for the electrical system.


• Maintains records of electrical preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required; performs corrective and preventive maintenance tests as necessary, according to policies.


• Installs wiring, switches, receptacles and other electrical devices as assigned, in accordance with national electrical codes.


• Independently perform electrical systems tasks in rooms, including television, nurse call apparatus, lighting and receptacles according to PM check list.


• Repair and install electrical devices such as receptacles, light fixtures, light switches, lighting ballast, motors, etc.


• Install electrical conduit and related boxes.


• Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on various electrical devices.


• Participate in the monthly emergency generator testing.


• Follow and implement standard Lock Out Tag Out policies and procedures.


• Complete Work Order and Preventative Maintenance (PM) paperwork in a timely and professional manner.

What You’ll Have

• Attend Tool Box safety meetings and demonstrate safety competency.


• At a minimum, must have a current Journeyman Electrician license.


• Must have a current driver’s license.
