Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Tech V in Humboldt, TN to install, maintain and repair electrical systems within a corrugated box manufacturing facility. You will ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery, read schematics, and perform preventive maintenance.

The role requires a technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Technology and at least 3 years of experience with PLCs, motor controls, and industrial automation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and control systems on production equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in machinery such as corrugators and conveyors.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment performance.
• Read electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
• Test circuits with multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Maintain safety compliance and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Record repairs and maintenance activities accurately.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams on improvements.

Job Summary
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within a corrugated box manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of machinery, production lines, and plant infrastructure by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, and related components for production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in machinery such as corrugators, printers, die cutters, and conveyor systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Technology.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, and industrial automation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule

• Full-time; may require overtime, weekends, and on-call availability.
