WESTRISE ELECTRIC LLC in New York, NY seeks a dependable Service Electrician/Mechanic with 6+ years of field experience to join our NYC team. The role covers installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in residential and commercial properties throughout the five boroughs.

You will install service equipment, panels, wiring, lighting, and LV systems. Responsibilities include upgrades, conduit work, and coordinating with GC's and other trades while ensuring NYC NEC compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ years field experience, no exceptions.
  • Must have valid driver’s license; driving company van is required.
  • Solid knowledge of National Electrical Code and NYC Electrical Code.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer service focus.
  • Practical exam required during interview and before hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace electrical wiring and components in homes and commercial buildings.
  • Perform service upgrades, meter sockets, and panel work.
  • Install backboards, conduits, feeders, and lighting systems for remodels and new construction.
  • Coordinate with general contractors and other trades on electrical layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and safety standards; inspect systems for safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain organized work areas.

Education

We are looking for a dependable Service Electrician/Mechanic with 6+ years field experience to join our team. The work location will be throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC. Driving company work van(s) to and from work location(s) will be required. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in residential properties and commercial businesses. You will be required to install or repair a wide range of equipment, including service equipment, circuit breaker panels, circuit breakers, switches, outlets, light fixtures, fans, wires, conduit and cables. As well as troubleshooting to identify and resolve electrical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electrical wiring, lighting, and other components of the electrical system in homes, business or commercial buildings, including switches, outlets and light fixtures.
  • Service upgrades including service switches, meter sockets, end boxes, sleeve installations.
  • Install service backboard and electrical support systems.
  • Installing electrical systems in remodeling and new construction projects.
  • Installing temporary lighting & power, circuit breaker panel installation, feeder cables & conduit, rough-in and trim-out.
  • Pulling and terminating cables.
  • Installing conduit & pull wires.
  • Working with GC's and others trades to plan electrical layouts for remodeling and new construction projects.
  • Ensure that work is in compliance with NYC Electrical Code, National Electrical Codes (NEC) and Utility Requirements.
  • Inspecting electrical systems to ensure they are safe and meet electrical codes and regulations.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment to complete projects, including hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, linemen's pliers etc.
  • Installing low-voltage (LV) systems as required. e.g. LV lighting, doorbell/intercom wiring, boiler wiring etc.
  • Installing home automation systems, such as those that control lighting, climate control, security systems, and entertainment systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to determine the best course of action.
  • Test electrical systems and components to identify issues.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and make necessary repairs.
  • Assist other electricians as needed.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to Electrician Helpers.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
  • Work may be indoors or outdoors.
Required Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ years experience in the field. No exceptions.
  • Must be able to complete installations on your own.
  • Valid driver's license required. No exceptions. Driving company work van(s) to and from work location(s) will be required.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NYC Electrical Code required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • A practical examination will be part of the interview process. Successful completion of the practical examination required before hire.
Electrical knowledge

Need to have a strong understanding of electrical systems and how they work. Need to know how to read electrical schematics, understand electrical code and be able to identify electrical hazards. This knowledge is necessary to ensure the safety of the people you work with and the people living in the homes you work on.

Communication skills

Verbal and written communication skills required. Electricians work with other professionals, such as architects, engineers and contractors. Communication skills will help you collaborate with these professionals, explain your work to homeowners and relay job conditions back to the office.

Salary

The current starting salary is $40.00 per hour. This rate is subject to change.
