Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join the Facilities Engineering department. The role installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment across our campuses, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will work under general supervision, read blueprints, and coordinate with other trades. A valid Oklahoma Electrical Journeyman license and at least 3 years of wiring experience are required, along with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical principles, tools and safety practices.
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Must understand local, state and national electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, alter and repair electrical wiring, circuits and fixtures.

Position Title:Electrician Journeyman - FacilitiesDepartment:Facilities EngineeringJob Description:General DescriptionUnder general supervision, performs skilled electrical work at the journeyman level in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, fixtures and related equipment.Essential Job DutiesResponsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position.Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, alteration and repair of wiring, power appliances, machinery, overhead circuits, underground circuits, and pole lines.Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical fixtures and apparatus, such as boxes, pull boxes, conduit wiring outlets, switch panels and bus bars.Test circuits for continuity and proper connections.Installs and maintains motors and generators, seats, and replaces brushes, oils, and cleans motors and does limited mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts on electrical fixtures or equipment.Uses standards and specialized electrical tools and equipment, such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, magnetos, and other hand tools ordinarily used in the trade.Repairs and maintains a power plant switchboard and related control devices.Makes minor repairs and adjustments on passenger and freight elevators, and air conditioning equipment.Confers with supervisor, department head or others regarding the operation, installation, maintenance or repair of electrical systems or equipment.Advises in the selection and storage of electrical equipment.Consults and works with other trades personnel.Supervises work of assigned Electrician Apprentice.General Job DutiesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsEducation : High School Diploma or GED required.Experience : At least 3 years of experience in electrical wiring required.Certification/License/Registration : Active Electrical Journeyman license issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board required.Clean driving record and current drivers license issued by the State Oklahoma required within 30 days of hire.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical fixtures and equipment.Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary in the electrical trade.Knowledge of local, state and national electric codes and the underwriter’s rules for electrical installations.Ability to demonstrate skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical apparatus.Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings sketches and specifications.Ability to make rough sketches and estimates the cost of electrical work.Ability to keep simple records and make reports and follow oral and written directions.Current OU Health Employees - Please click HERE to login.OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
