Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking an Electrician II to oversee electrical maintenance and improvements for commercial and institutional facilities. High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations for building systems; conduct inspections and support emergency electrical restoration.
Coordinate electrical projects and oversee contractor work to ensure safety, code compliance, quality, and timely completion.
Inspect electrical systems and installations for compliance with NEC, OSHA, and local regulations; document findings and ensure corrective actions.
Assist with planning and prioritizing preventive maintenance and electrical capital projects; evaluate system condition and review technical documentation.
Provide technical guidance to staff and contractors; interpret electrical drawings, codes, and specifications to support reliable system operations.
Coordinate planned electrical outages; communicate impacts, maintain CMMS records, manage electrical documentation, and recommend system improvements.
