Description
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, this positionmaintains, modifies, installs, inspects, tests, and repairs theUniversities electrical systems and associated equipment. Design,install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot lighting systems.Design and install motor control circuits, generating systems,motors, and associated circuitry. Design, install, or repairsecurity systems, hoist or lifts, kitchen equipment, automaticdoors, and gates. Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain scoreboards,marquees and electronic message centers.Performs preventivemaintenance, fills out logs, reports, and information asrequired.
Examples of Duties
- Services and maintains; electrical motors, shaft bearings, gearreducers, lube or oil gears, spindles, belts, blowers, andfilters.
- Minor repairs and replacements to electrical devices andequipment, may replace fuses, breakers, change single phase motors,blowers, fan coils, install light bulbs, tubes, or fixtures.
- Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits,equipment, and appliances.
- Uses hand tools and testing instruments.
- Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal,communication, and power circuits.
- Assists in isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors, andother electrical equipment using testing instruments such asammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp and growler.
- Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements ofelectrical systems.
- Requisitions new electrical supplies and equipment.
- Document all work in CMMS system.
- Identifies and corrects unsafe work conditions with managementoversight.
- Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) asdesignated.
- Complies with all University safety and risk managementpolicies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, andhazard assessments.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities asassigned.

- Performs various repairs and maintenance duties that involvesplumbing, carpentry, HVAC duties to complete work requests. Dutiesmay include; unclog drains, repair doors, locks, reset airconditioning equipment, replace filters, replace window airconditioning units, repair leaks in various systems using a varietyof methods and materials.
Typical Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent, Formal training (specify),Education/Experience substitution (specify)
- Formal Electrical or HVAC training and/or related militaryexperience may be substituted for the required experience.
- Education may be substituted for experience or if experiencemay be substituted for education. Note that equivalencies are basedon the following: AA or 60 credit hours = 2 years experience; BA/BSor 120 credit hours = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 yearsexperience; PhD = 8 years experience
Experience
- Four (4) years electrical job experience in an industrial orcommercial setting required.
Licenses and Certifications
City of Warrensburg Electrical License required or able to obtainwithin 6 months of hire
