Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Georgia is seeking an experienced electrician to install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, and equipment both underground and above ground. The role includes leading second-class electricians and ensuring safety compliance on site.

You will interpret drawings, perform cable terminations, start up and commissioning, and troubleshoot energized systems while adhering to NEC/local codes. Travel may be required with a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years’ electrical experience.
• Must pass Burns and McDonnell assessment.
• Experience with underground and above-ground installations.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at height.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety rules and ensure compliance across crews.
• Inspect work areas for hazards and ensure safe performance.
• Inspect and test electrical equipment for proper operation.
• Install underground ductbank, conduit, and raceways.
• Start up and commission systems including MCC, switchgear.
• Interpret drawings and perform cable terminations.
• Work with energized equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure adherence to state and local electrical codes.

Description

Install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment and fixtures. Will perform work underground and above ground doing cable and conduit installations. May assist and lead second class electricians to ensure safety.

• Oversee all safety rules with oversight of co-workers to ensure compliance
• Inspects designated work areas for hazards
• Oversees the inspection and testing of all electrical equipment to ensure safe performance
• Oversees the installation and maintenance of equipment with oversight of co-workers to ensure compliance

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, or reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, push and pull
• Ability to use repetitive hand motions and the ability to grasp and operate field tools and equipment
• Ability to climb on, in or through equipment in confined spaces and elevated work using fall protection harnesses
• Ability to work long hours with infrequent days off, night shifts, and in adverse climates
• Ability to use respirators or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
• Ability to utilize vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to lift, carry and or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in an environment with loud noises and vibrations for extended periods of time
