Job summary

New York Institute of Technology on Long Island seeks a Mechanic A - Electrician to work Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm. The role is covered under the Local 282 collective bargaining agreement and reports to the General Foreman and campus management on maintenance and safety compliance.

The Mechanic A will handle electrical systems, scheduling repairs, maintaining inventory, and operating vehicles. A NYS driver license and ability to read blueprints are required.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time trade experience under a journeyman mechanic, equivalent to an apprenticeship program.
• HS Diploma or trade school certification.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must have a valid NYS driver license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair campus equipment with safety and code compliance focus.
• Schedule repairs and maintenance around occupancy.
• Maintain inventory and source tools and equipment.
• Operate motor vehicles to perform duties as needed.
