Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, is seeking a Full-Time First-Class Electrician in Pascagoula, MS to install, lay out and repair shipboard cables, lighting and power systems for the U.S. Navy fleet.

The Electrician will use blueprints and schematics, work with hand and power tools, and adapt to day or night shifts as ships are in production. A strong safety mindset and ability to read marine drawings are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the commercial, industrial or marine electrical field.
• Read and interpret marine drawings and blueprints using metric and standard measurements.
• Ability to work day or night shifts depending on ship construction.

Responsibilities

• Layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment.
• Work with hand and power tools, test equipment and ship schematics.
• Operate in multiple shifts and aboard shipyard environments with emphasis on safety.

Job Description

An Ingalls First-Class Electrician also called a Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ships power. Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment along with a working knowledge of blue prints, drawings and schematics. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

Must Have

Minimum 4 Ç Yrs. experience in the commercial, industrial or marine electrical field

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements

Nice to Have

One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.).
