The maintenance electrician is responsible for inspections including mandatory inspections, repair and adjustment of all electrical plant, equipment and circuitry and for the installation of additional power, lighting circuits and components throughout the St George Hospital Campus and Community Health centre sites to ensure the maintenance objectives are met in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.

In addition, undertaking provisions of electrical safety, preventative, corrective and statutory maintenance to plant and equipment as directed.

Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated electrical experience in maintenance of large building complexes and facility maintenance, preferably hospitals, and proven ability to work and cooperate with a multidisciplinary team of trade, non-trade, and contract staff to efficiently deliver maintenance services in a busy work environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of emergency generators and their associated switching systems, electrical systems including nurse call and C-bus lighting or capability to learn, mandatory testing such as electrical safety tagging, generators, and residual current devices.
  • Proven skills in fault finding and problem solving, including the ability to interpret building and services plans.
  • Electrical trade qualification and knowledge and application of relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Work, Health and Safety and preferably hold a current white card Occupational Health and Safety General Induction for Construction in NSW Certificate.
  • Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
