Job summary

U.S. Silica in Montpelier, VA is seeking an Electrician to troubleshoot, upgrade, and support complex electrical systems within a heavy manufacturing environment.

You will mentor junior electricians and collaborate with automation, engineering, and maintenance teams to keep plant systems reliable. The role requires a Journeyman or Master Electrician Certification, knowledge of PLC platforms, and the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3–5 years of industrial or heavy manufacturing electrical experience.
• Able to read and interpret complex schematics and control diagrams.
• Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician Certification required.
• Ability to be certified as a Mineral Mine Electrician via Virginia Energy.
• Strong troubleshooting, safety and quality focus.

Job description

• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 3-5 years of industrial or heavy manufacturing electrical experience.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex schematics and control diagrams.
• Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician Certification required
• Ability to be certified as a Mineral Mine Electrician via Virginia Energy
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
• High level of safety and quality.
• Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
• Forklift experience - Preferred.
• Computer Software - Preferred.
• Warehouse experience - Preferred.
