Job description

Journeyman Electrician

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, provides integrated electrical power system services across utility, renewables, battery storage, industrial, and petrochemical markets. Based in Houston, Texas, the firm designs, installs, tests, and maintains medium and high‑voltage electrical infrastructure.

We seek an experienced and safety‑focused Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot high‑voltage electrical systems (600 V–500 kV) in utility, substation, power plant, and industrial environments. The role requires hands‑on experience with energized systems, strong knowledge of the NEC and OSHA safety standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced field environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test high‑voltage cables, conductors, breakers, and transformers.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, one‑lines, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Perform maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and protection/control systems.
• Execute grounding and bonding practices for high‑voltage installations.
• Work around live equipment while adhering to lockout/tagout and arc flash safety protocols.
• Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and engineers to ensure work is completed to spec and on schedule.
• Complete documentation for quality control and safety compliance.
• Train and mentor apprentices as needed.
• Perform other job‑related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyman Electrician License.
• Minimum 4+ years of high‑voltage experience (600 V–500 kV).
• Certifications: OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR.
• NCCER Electrical or related craft certifications.
• Solid knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA 1910/1926 standards.
• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications.
• Comfortable working at heights and in varying field conditions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
• Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
• Experience in substation or power generation environments.
