Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a journeyman electrician to perform skilled electrical work across district facilities. You will repair, maintain, and install electrical systems, ensuring code compliance and safety. Requires four years of experience and a valid Journeyman license with a high school diploma or GED.
You will evaluate project costs, plan layouts, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with contractors on renovations and new installations within MSCS zones.
Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing electrical high and low voltage electrical systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.

Graduation from an accredited high school with a high school diploma or possess a GED; Plus, four (4) years’ experience in commercial electrical installation and /or maintenance. Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
This position will work in MSCS Zone 1 and Zone 3.
