Job summary

Allied Printing Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrician to join our Manchester, CT team. The candidate will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems supporting print production and facility operations, ensuring safety and reliability.

The Electrician will read schematics, troubleshoot PLCs and motors, and collaborate with maintenance and production to minimize downtime in a fast-paced printing environment. 2nd shift is available.

Qualifications

  • Electrical license is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; technical school or electrician certification is preferred.
  • 1–5 years of experience in printing or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, drives, control circuits and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading electrical blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems on presses, bindery equipment, and facility machinery.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components such as motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, switches, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and documentation.
  • Assist with machine setup, calibration, and system adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve equipment issues quickly.
  • Ensure safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and documentation.
  • Support facility electrical needs including lighting and power distribution.

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment that support print production, finishing, and facility operations. This role ensures presses, bindery equipment, and plant systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Working closely with maintenance and production teams, the Electrician plays a key role in keeping operations running smoothly while supporting continuous improvement, safety compliance, and long‑term reliability in a fast‑paced printing manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair on presses, bindery equipment, and facility machinery.

  • Conduct routine electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

What You Bring:
  • Electrical License required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical school or electrician certification preferred.
  • 1-5 years experienced printing or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, drives, control circuits, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints and technical schematics.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and electrical codes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Safely move materials weighing 500–750 lbs.
  • Using manual pallet trucks
  • Driving, sitting, standing, walking, while operating a fork truck.
  • Ability to lift, move, and position materials throughout the workday and safely operate warehouse equipment for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials.
