Job summary

HarbisonWalker International (HWI) is seeking an experienced Electrician to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of electrical fixtures and control equipment to keep machinery running to code and at optimal quality and safety levels.

You will troubleshoot using a multimeter, read blueprints, and engage in PLC-related tasks, including PLC card replacement, with emphasis on safety (LOTO) and reliability.

Job description

Summary

HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our team as an Electrician.

The Electrician plays an integral part in the safe and successful production of refractory brick products at HarbisonWalker International. This role is responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of electrical fixtures and control equipment within the plant to ensure that equipment and wiring are to code and optimal levels of quality and safety are met. In addition, the Manufacturing Electrician maintains clean & safe work environment as well as maintains professional working relationships with co-workers.

Responsibilities
  • Strong Technical Understanding and Technical Zeal
  • Safety tasks including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
  • Operate Power Tools to fix electrical problems
  • Read Electrical Blueprints and troubleshoot using a Multi meter
  • Read Ladder Logic on a PLC and troubleshoot
  • Replace PLC cards in PLC units
  • Run conduit and size wiring for electrical projects
  • Work on encoders and motors and variable frequency drives
  • PLC programming and willingness to attend training as required
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on hydraulic systems including reading schematics
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and repair skills
  • Arc Flash awareness and knowledge
  • 480v 3 phase power, motor starter wiring, circuit protection components maintenance
Requirements
  • GED/ High School Diploma required.
  • Must have minimum of four (4) years of experience in general electrical repair and/or construction. (We will consider candidates with an associate degree in industrial electricity and two (2) years of experience.)
  • Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work from written and verbal instructions from the supervisor.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Physical Activity:Requires more than 2/3 of time reaching climbing/balancing; 2/3 of time standing, kneeling, crawling speaking/hearing; and less than 1/3 of time sitting,
  • Lifting:Requires lifting to 100 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
  • Vision:Requires accurate close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus.
  • Environment:Requires 2/3 or more of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 working in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and/or in extreme heat.
  • Noise:Requires exposure to very loud noise.
