Job summary

CPMG is seeking an Electrician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems at US Embassies and Consulates worldwide. The role requires 100% international travel and deployment of cleared staff to overseas sites across ~170 countries.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, BOM creation, outages coordination, and detailed reporting. Requires Journeyman license, OCONUS travel, and Top-Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Journeyman electrician license or equivalent at a State or Local Municipality level.
  • Must have experience with OCONUS travel.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Must have the physical ability to travel overseas 100%.
  • Pass a required physical examination for duty.

Job description

Overview

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

A leader in cutting‑edge research and technology in the cyber arena, CPMG focuses on using business drivers to guide cybersecurity activities and manage risk. CPMG offers flexible, integrative solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors, among others, and specializes in cybersecurity, information and operational technology, electronic security surveillance, and support services.

Summary: The Electrician is responsible for completing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on electrical systems of various types and conditions at US Embassies and Consulates worldwide. This position requires 100% international travel. This work involves the deployment of cleared American staff for maintenance and repair of overseas facilities worldwide. During deployments, technicians will travel from location to location for short site visits. Locations are in approximately 170 different countries around the world.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and comply with all necessary safety procedures and regulations.
  • Provide exceptional service and communication to clients.
  • Communicate and coordinate both internally and with external stakeholders to ensure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, assessments, testing and repairs on electrical equipment including but is not limited to grounding and bonding systems, switchgear, lightning protection systems, and main/sub distribution power panels. This includes reviewing/documenting the integrity of all lightning protection systems, inspecting and documenting all switchgear breakers, augmenting the grounding/bonding systems for the compound to reduce elevated ground fault current, measuring all phases of supply conductors to verify proper load balancing, verifying proper torque/tightness of all electrical connections, conducting an IR scan of all conductors, breakers and lug terminals to check for excessive operating temperatures, inspection of conductors for damaged insulation, improper installation, size in relation to overcurrent protection.
  • Work with the local embassy staff whenever possible to perform on‑the‑job training while completing work.
  • Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to document all the recommended spare parts, repair parts, and tools associated with the equipment serviced.
  • Coordinate any outages required for maintenance or repairs.
  • Complete all required reports for work completed including equipment inventories, checklists, redline drawings, bill of materials, and repair plans.
  • Work is 100% overseas at multiple locations and involves large amounts of travel.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual and technical labor safely, such as climbing ladders, working on rooftops and be able to lift and carry materials/tools in excess of 25lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Ability to logically diagnose system faults under pressure.
  • Working collaboratively with teammates and local embassy staff.
  • Polite, service‑oriented attitude with focus on client satisfaction.
  • Must be able to deploy overseas and work in various environments (hot, humid, or cold regions).
  • Be knowledgeable and able to comply with all company, site‑specific, and safety regulations (ASHRAE, NFPA 70E, OSHA).
  • Use of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Journeyman electrician license or equivalent at a State or Local Municipality level
  • Must have experience with OCONUS travel
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top‑Secret Clearance.
  • Must have the physical ability to travel overseas 100%.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination for duty.
  • Level 1 requires:
    • At least 5–7 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician. Inspects, repairs, installs, and maintains most electrical systems included in the IMAP Electrical SOW. Ensures all electrical work performed meets required safety codes and may require oversight from a Senior Electrician. Able to use a variety of tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to accomplish required tasks. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. May require additional training and guidance on maintenance/troubleshooting procedures for one or more equipment types listed in the IMAP Electrical SOW. Typically paired with a level 3 or level 4 Electrician.
  • Level 2 requires:
    • At least 7–10 years of related experience as a Journeyman Electrician. Inspects, repairs, installs, and maintains all electrical systems included in the IMAP Electrical SOW. Ensures all electrical work performed meets required safety codes and typically is able to work independently with occasional oversight from a Senior Electrician. Able to use a wide variety of tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to accomplish required tasks. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. Typically paired with a level 3 or level 4 Electrician.
  • Level 3 requires:
    • At least 10+ years of related experience as a Journeyman Electrician. Inspects, repairs, installs, and maintains all electrical systems included in the IMAP Electrical SOW. Ensures all electrical work performed meets required safety codes. Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with all equipment types listed in the IMAP Electrical SOW. Able to use a wide variety of tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to accomplish required tasks. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. Can potentially perform the duties of a team leader, to include resolving logistical issues that arise, relay required information to the IMAP Office and provide training/guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Electricians.
  • Level 4 requires:
    • At least 10+ years of related experience as an Electrician and at least 1 year of experience as an IMAP technician. In addition to the ability to perform all the tasks/duties associated with a Level 3 Electrician, expected to perform the duties of a team leader, to include resolving logistical issues that arise, relay required information to the IMAP Office, and provide training/guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Electricians. Able to use all resources available to solve unique and complex electrical issues. Expected to be an ambassador for the IMAP contract in all situations and go above and beyond to improve and optimize program operations.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40 to $55 per hour.
