Job summary

OxyChem, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks an Electrical Maintenance Technician to uphold safety and environmental standards while keeping critical equipment running at our Texas site. The role requires troubleshooting across low and high voltage systems, motor control, and transformers, with SAP and MS Office proficiency.

You will work in a team-focused environment, participate in process safety initiatives, and be available for overtime and callouts as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Certificate of Electrical Technology or equivalent apprenticeship.
• NCCER Electrical Assessment Certification required.
• Three years electrical maintenance experience required.
• Overtime, weekends and holidays availability.
• English reading/writing/speaking required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environment, health and safety as top priority.
• Support process safety and risk management goals.
• Participate in site safety and risk reduction activities.
• Troubleshoot 120V AC controls and higher voltage switchgear.
• Inspect and repair motors, transformers, and control systems.
• Read loop drawings, schematics, ladder logic, and P&ID drawings.
• Document work and update procedures and drawings.

Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities in which we operate and transport our products as a highest priority.
• Support the Process Safety and Risk Management goals and objectives.
• Participate in site-wide Process Safety and Risk Reduction activities as requested.
• Look for opportunities to be the 'fresh set of eyes' in this area.
• Must be proficient in troubleshooting 120 volt AC controls.
• Must be proficient in troubleshooting 480V, 4160V, 13.8 KV switchgear.
• Working knowledge of motor repair, inspection and troubleshooting motor control systems.
• Working knowledge of the inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of distribution and power transformers.
• Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, and P & I drawings.
• Working knowledge of National Electrical Code Troubleshoot problems and consult directly with equipment vendors for resolution.
• Keep shop, tools and work area picked up and clean.
• Maintain prints and files in proper place. Document work (as found as left) and update procedures, drawings, specs and files.
• Must be computer literate and able to learn the SAP, Excel, Microsoft word and other programs.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required and be available for callout duty as scheduled.
• Must be good team player and able to function well in large I/E functional group.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent GED
• Certificate of Electrical Technology or Equivalent Apprenticeship Program.
• NCCER Electrical Assessment Certification. If you do not currently have the certification, this requirement must be filled prior to employment.
• Three (3) years electrical maintenance experience.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and speak in English.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
• Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
