Job summary

City of Dearborn seeks a Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in city facilities. The role requires completion of an electrical apprenticeship or an Associate’s degree with related experience, plus a Journeyman License and specific training within set timelines.

Expect to perform estimates, document work, and coordinate with others while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Four-year electrical apprentice program; or, Associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Journeyman Electrician License required.
• Within 6 months: CDL Class B with Air Brake Endorsement, Aerial Platform Certification, Confined Space Training, Work Zone Safety Training.
• Within 2 years: Level I Traffic Signal Technician.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, transformers, switches, and related equipment in City buildings.
• Tests electrical components and determines repair needs; performs repairs as needed.
• Prepares estimates for time and material costs associated with daily work.
• Maintains records of completed work.
• Attends required meetings as scheduled.

Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, transformers, switches, and related equipment and systems in City buildings and structures.2. Tests electrical components and determines repair needs; performs repairs as needed.3. Prepares estimates for time and material costs associated with daily work.4. Maintains records of completed work.5.
