Job summary

SMS Mill Services LLC in Indiana is seeking an Electrician to inspect, repair, replace, install and maintain electrical equipment in the nuggetizing plant and on heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

You will read blueprints, perform preventative maintenance, follow lockout/tagout protocols, and document maintenance activities while supporting continuous improvement in SMS maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• Journeyman electrician papers through an accredited journeyman program or an associate's degree in electrical technology or comparable degree.
• At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems on mobile equipment.
• Inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and mining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance and schedule regular inspections on electrical components and systems.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams for installation and repair work.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning systems using appropriate testing devices and tools.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
• Install and maintain high-voltage and low-voltage systems, including motors, panels, and substations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for compliance and reporting.
• Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and hazard identification, to ensure a safe work environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives

Job description

SMS Mill Services LLC ("SMS") is a leader in the steel mill services industry. SMS provides a comprehensive range of services for steel mill customers. We partner with our customers to design custom, cost-effective solutions, which focus on adding value and achieving goals for the operation and the environment. Our range of services includes, but is not limited scrap yard management, finished or semi-finished product services, melt shop services, logistics/transportation support, and slag processing.

To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all electrical equipment in the nuggetizing plant, automated cutting machine, heavy equipment such as Caterpillar Loaders, Sennebogen Material Handlers etc. and as otherwise required in connection with electrical service.

Qualifications:

Applicants will need to possess the following credentials to qualify for the Electrician job. Journeyman electrician papers through an accredited journeyman program. Or associate's degree in electrical technology or comparable degree from an accredited school or college. At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience.
