Job summary

Independent Mechanical Inc. in the greater Pittsburgh area seeks an experienced Electrical Estimator & Project Manager to lead bids and manage field coordination. You will review drawings, prepare estimates, and drive projects from RFQ through completion, ensuring accuracy, safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.

This hands-on role combines estimating, client communication, and site coordination. NEC knowledge and Accubid experience are essential, along with travel to customer sites as

Qualifications

• 5+ years of electrical industry experience.
• Experience with electrical estimating and/or project management.
• Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and installation.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, blueprints, and specs.
• Knowledge of NEC and local codes.
• Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and estimating software.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator & Project Manager to join our team.

This is a hands-on role combining electrical estimating, project management, customer communication, and field coordination. You will be involved from the initial RFQ and estimate through project completion, helping ensure projects are accurately priced, properly planned, and delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Role Description

• Prepare estimates, bids, and quotes for commercial electrical construction and service projects.
• Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Use Accubidto develop accurate estimates and proposals.
• Perform material takeoffs and obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Visit customer and job sites to evaluate conditions and gather project information.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost considerations.
• Prepare and submit proposals in response to RFQs, RFPs, and customer requests.

Project Management

• Manage assigned projects from award through completion.
• Serve as a primary customer contact throughout the project.
• Coordinate schedules, materials, field personnel, and subcontractors.
• Conduct job-site visits and work closely with field teams.
• Monitor project costs, schedules, and progress.
• Manage change orders, invoices, and project documentation.
• Identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with specifications and applicable codes.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support improvements to estimating and project management processes.
• Assist with developing and improving company SOPs and project tools.
• Provide feedback and support to field and project team members.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of electrical industry experience, preferably in commercial electrical contracting.
• Experience with electrical estimating and/or project management.
• Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, materials, and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, and estimating software.
• Accubid experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer and job sites.
