Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a detailed electrical draftsman to support the Duane Arnold Energy Center project in Iowa. Initially remote with potential for hybrid work, you will develop single-line, relay, and metering diagrams for medium-voltage systems and review vendor drawings.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplined teams, produce wiring diagrams for installers, and assist engineers with design requirements while maintaining strong communication across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or equivalent design experience.
• Five+ years of detailed wiring design for single-line, relay and metering diagrams (MV/480V).
• Experience reviewing electrical layout drawings and interfaces.
• Familiarity with digital control systems.
• Ability to produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
• Assist engineers with initial design requirements and convey termination requirements clearly.
• Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design on power plants or large facilities.

Description

This position will require onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center supporting project needs. This will start out as a remote position but could change to a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work and lead others in a project team environment in the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems.

Under the direction of the Electrical Project Lead, you will work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in the development of the following:

• Single-line diagrams
• Relay and metering diagrams
• AC and DC schematic diagrams
• Synchronizing diagrams
• Point to point wiring diagrams
• Cable schedules
• Grounding Layout

You will produce electrical wiring drawings, and review and incorporate vendor drawings into the overall project design.

There will be opportunities to accompany and assist in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.

Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
• Five or more years of detailed wiring design experience in the development of single-line, and relay and metering diagrams, including medium-voltage and 480V systems.
• Experience in the review of electrical layout drawings involving electrical equipment outlines and interface points.
• Familiarity with digital control systems.
• The ability to perform the following:

• Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
• Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
• Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements.

• Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
• A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
• The ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.
