Job summary

CEC is seeking an Apprentice Electrician to learn under Journeyman and Master Electricians, performing installation, alteration, and repair of electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings. This is a safety sensitive role.

You will be responsible for safe work practices, assisting with wiring, pulling, and testing, and will need a TX apprentice license renewal annually, with travel up to 15%. Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential as you work around high elevations

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must obtain and renew annually a State approved Electrical Apprentice License (TX).

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and test electrical equipment and wiring in commercial/industrial settings.
• Prepare work area for installation.
• Install electrical components and connect wiring per code and specs.
• Keep tools and area organized and safe.
• Follow safety requirements at all times.
• Assist in wiring, mounting, and strapping.
• Work flexible hours including overtime and night shifts.
• Maintain professional conduct around customers.

Position Summary

As a successful Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, learning, and understanding the electrical trade. You will work under the guidance of a Journeyman and Master Electrician assisting in the installation, alteration, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industry. This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in a commercial and industrial setting.
• Prepares work area for installation of equipment.
• Installs or helps install electrical components.
• Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
• Keeps all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly and properly working fashion and the work area clean and organized at all times.
• Demonstrates safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
• Assists in wire pulls, mounting, and strapping.
• Understands and complies with safety requirements at all times.
• Produces quality of work that meets or exceeds National Electrical Code requirements and Company standards.
• Maintains a positive attitude towards completing job while complying with all Company policies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must obtain and renew annually a State approved Electrical Apprentice License (must be licensed in TX).

Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

• Must have valid Driver's License and own reliable transportation.
• Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
• Must be able to pass drug and background check.
• Travel up to 15% may be required based on company needs.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
• Lift 51 pounds, routinely. Constantly move about on the feet.
• Climb ladders of all types.
• Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
• Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
• Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks. Possess good vision, normal or corrected.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
• Must be able to positively identify different colors of wiring. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
• Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position may be required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
• Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
