American Institute seeks an Electrical Trades Instructor to join our Education team. The role supports student instruction, guidance, and review to ensure academic success.

This on-campus position with occasional remote work offers competitive compensation ($30-$34 USD hourly) and access to a 401k plan; prior teaching and electrical experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 3 years of verifiable experience directly related to residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work, alarm systems, control systems or a combination of these areas.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive course instruction within specified program.
  • Provide input in course descriptions, syllabus creation, textbook material, or equipment review.
  • Create and revise daily lesson plans.
  • Attend in-service trainings and faculty meetings for professional growth.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
  • Advise students and refer major problems to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Return quizzes, tests and lab assignments within 48 hours.
  • Demonstrate use of community resources through guest speakers and field trips.
  • Report damaged equipment to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Turn in grades within 48 hours of term end.
  • Enhance the curriculum as needed with assignments, notes, and activities.

Position Description

Title: Electrical Trades Instructor
Department: Education
Type: Non-exempt
Reports to: Program Director/Director of Education

Summary: A Electrical Trades Instructor or Faculty member cultivates the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review in order to ensure the successful academic program and personal development of each student.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Program/Course

  • Responsible for comprehensivecourse instruction within specified program
  • Responsible for providing Program Director/Director of Education with active input in course development (i.e., course descriptions, syllabus creation, textbook material, or equipment review).
  • Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson
  • Responsible for continued professional growth by attending in-service training and/or continuing education seminars and to attend faculty meetings.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic
  • Student Development
    • Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students’ academic growth and guides their professional development.
    • Responsible for keeping DOE apprised of student progress (i.e., academic and attendance), especially in terms of performance trends detrimental to the development of a firm educational foundation (academic advisement and early warning forms).
    • Responsible for providing extra help to those students experiencing difficulty in the mastery of course work.
  • Responsible for advising students who have minor problems which may be thwarting educational Responsible for referring students whom have major problems to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments within 48 hours to
    • Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available resources in the online
  • Responsible to demonstrate utilization of community resources through arranging guest speakers, field trips and class participation in community service events.
  • Report damaged, broken, or malfunction equipment immediately to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Required to turn in grades within 48 hours of the end of term
  • Perform other duties as required by the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Although you will be provided with most teaching materials, you may be required and are expected if necessary to enhance the curriculum. This can include devising assignments, worksheets, notes, tests and answer keys, and activities.
Compliance
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escape any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • This is an on-campus position with occasional remote work.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection may be required.
  • May require setup of computer equipment, accommodation consideration available upon request.

Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Range

$30 - $34 USD
