Job summary

UNAVAILABLE in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Senior Electrical Test Technician 3 to lead the development and administration of electrical testing programs for complex facilities.

The role requires hands-on testing of protective relays, switchgear, transformers, and high-voltage equipment with SCADA and building control systems. Travel to industrial and data center sites is anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant electrical experience with a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Possess a valid/active U.S. Work Authorization.
  • NETA / NICET certification (preferred) or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical testing.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment.
  • Experience with test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, and Fluke meters.
  • Understanding of insulation resistance, power factor, contact resistance, and high-potential (Hi-Pot) testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of medium and high-voltage systems (up to 500kV), including arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose system failures.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work in industrial, data center, and utility environments.
  • Ability to work safely under minimal supervision and follow industry best practices.
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of electrical power systems, ensuring compliance with NETA standards
  • Conduct protective relay testing, calibration, and programming for various manufacturers.
  • Perform circuit breaker and switchgear testing, including timing tests, primary and secondary injection testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform root cause analysis for system failures.
  • Conduct transformer testing, including turns ratio, insulation resistance, and power factor testing.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE compliance.
  • Maintain detailed test reports and documentation for compliance and client review.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure efficient system commissioning and startup.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support CMMS-driven scheduling, dispatch, tracking, and reporting of MEP maintenance activities.
  • Oversee integration of SCADA, Delta Controls, and Life Safety Systems.
  • Coordinate with Program Manager to optimize monitoring performance and energy goals.
  • Provide oversight; troubleshoot and address operational problems.
  • Lead electrical testing activities when on duty.
  • Assist in creating electrical work and project schedules.
  • Contribute to ORM safety procedures and safety meetings; generate safety reports.
  • Conduct protective relay testing, calibration, and programming; perform circuit breaker testing; verify timings and injections.
  • Troubleshoot faults and perform root cause analysis; space transformer testing including turns ratio and power factor.
  • Ensure adherence to LOTO and PPE; maintain test reports and client documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and clients to ensure efficient commissioning and startup.
  • Mentor junior technicians as needed.

Job description

Overview

The Senior Electrical Test Technician 3 works independently on small to medium sized projects or as part of a larger, more complex project. The Senior Electrical Test Technician is responsible for the overall administration, organization, and implementation of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing Electrical Testing Program for duty site and serve as the subject matter expert over the divisions Operation and Maintenance program.
  • Responsible for managing or training operations staff to operate (monitor and control) and update all system (s) control applications maximizing the efficiency of the system being controlled and revising the operating controls as needed to accommodate changes in the facility operations or to correct identified problems/ inefficiencies.
  • Responsible for assisting the development process, methods, standard operating procedures (SOP) and training programs for operators to monitor and control the complex mechanical, electrical, life safety and building control system(s) that comprise the monitor and control.
  • Responsible for assisting the implementation process and procedures set forth using CMMS program to schedule, dispatch, track and report MEP field emergency repair, adjustment, preventive maintenance, and warranty activities.
  • Manages the integration, reliability, and functionality for all the building control system(s) that comprise the mission that include the SCADA, Delta Controls and the Life Safety Systems.
  • Coordinates with the ProgramManager while on duty to optimize the performance of monitoring systems and meet the government energy goals.
  • Provides oversight; must be capable of troubleshooting and have the expertise to address operational problems.
  • Assumes supervisory responsibility during electrical testing activities.
  • Assists MEP Operations Manager in developing electrical work and project schedules.
  • Assists in developing and implementing ORM safety procedures and safety meetings. Generate safety reports and maintain related safety records.
  • Trouble shooting, SCADA, Building Management Systems, Relay testing, SKM power systems, ETAP, able to conduct short circuit studies, able to conduct Arc Flash studies
Qualifications
  • Applicants selected must hold a minimum of 7+ years of relevant electrical experience with a High School Diploma/GED
