Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, Texas, seeks an Electrical Test Engineering Manager to own high-volume PCB test at the Starlink factory. You will build and lead a team, own test fixtures, PCBA design, and establish program benchmarks for yield, throughput, and reliability.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration with CAM, PCB operations, SMT, and SpaceX test leaders at other sites, ensuring production readiness and continuous improvement. Occasional travel to other sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in high-volume electrical or manufacturing test.
• 2+ years leading engineers, including hiring and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Own high-volume production test: yield, coverage, escape rate, first-pass yield, tester throughput, and tester uptime; drive cross-functional root cause with CAM, PCB operations, and SMT.
• Build and lead a team of engineers and specialists: hire, develop, and set performance expectations.
• Own test fixture and rack design for multi-unit production test: mechanical design of fixtures and racks that hold and present multiple units, plus the electrical interface, designed for production rate, changeover, and durability.
• Own test PCBA design and release: schematic, layout, bring-up, and fabrication/assembly of boards used in the test process.
• Set the bar for test programs, fixtures/racks, test boards, and equipment (ICT / Teradyne, flying probe, and related GSE); sign production readiness for new products and panel revisions.
• Set priorities and capacity across new-product introduction, sustaining, and debug.
• Provide leadership a clear operating picture: staffing, yield, downtime, and throughput.
• Partner with electrical test leaders at other SpaceX factories to transfer working production test capability.
• Travel to other sites as needed; this role is based on site in Bastrop.

ELECTRICAL TEST ENGINEERING MANAGER (STARLINK)

SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system - thousands of satellites, consumer receivers, and the software that brings it all together.

As Electrical Test Engineering Manager you will own high-volume PCB electrical test at the Starlink factory in Bastrop. You will build and lead a team of engineers and specialists and own yield, coverage, escapes, and tester throughput. You set the technical bar for test programs, multi-unit fixture and rack design, and test PCBA design and release. You partner with CAM, PCB operations, and SMT, and you are the person leadership calls for tester status.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in high-volume electrical or manufacturing test (ICT, flying probe, functional, or equivalent production board test).
• 2+ years leading engineers, including hiring and performance management.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Owned a production test process including yield, escapes, and throughput (units per hour or equivalent).
• Fixture and multi-unit rack design (mechanical and electrical) used in production - design, debug, and change control.
• Designed and released test PCBAs (schematic and layout) and owned fabrication and assembly, or managed engineers who did.
• Hands‑on experience with in‑circuit test (ICT / Teradyne or equivalent) and/or flying probe sufficient to hold the technical bar.
• Built or transferred a test capability (new product, new panel, or new tester) from empty or from another site into production.
• Clear written and verbal communication and regular presence on the production floor.
• Experience developing engineers.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines.
