Job summary

Archer in San Jose, California seeks an Electrical Test Engineer to design and build automated test systems for PCBAs and modules. You will work alongside design, system, and reliability engineers to validate designs, build test setups, and execute plans while investigating failures to drive improvements.

Strong background in electrical testing, automation, and project leadership is required, with experience in LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, and Python. FAA or other compliance exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in physical testing and analysis of electronic systems to detailed requirements.
• 2+ years of direct automation design and build experience (a t-test setup, manufacturing, robotics, etc.).
• Experience leading technical projects to completion.
• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits and power electronics.
• Python and NI tools such as LabVIEW/TestStand/VeriStand experience.

What you’ll do:

• Design and build reliable automated test equipment to conduct functional tests on PCBAs or modules.
• Work together with Design Engineers, System Engineers, and Reliability Engineers to Identify design critical operating modes and create design validation test plans.
• Work with test technicians to build validation test setups and execute test plans and teardowns.
• Investigate device failures to determine root cause and drive product improvements.
• Identify and plan critical tests to validate new technologies.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with physical testing and analysis of mechanical or electronic systems against detailed requirements.
• 2+ years of direct automation design and build experience (automated testing, manufacturing, robotics, industrial etc.)
• Experience leading and driving technical projects to completion.
• Good understanding of electrical circuit design and power electronics.
• Experience with Python and NI(LabVIEW, TestStand, or VeriStand).
• Experience with electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools.

Bonus Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with component, system, or vehicle validation testing (FAA DO160, Biomedical FDA testing, or equivalent.)
• Good Electrical Engineering Background (active circuit design, power electronics, digital circuits, motor drives, signal measurement and conditioning)
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams across an organization.
• Strong communicator and presenter of technical content.
• Experience using CAD software to create basic fixtures.
• Experience with HV systems and safety.
• Experience with integrated system communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS485 etc.)
