Job summary

Novelis Oswego is seeking an Electrical Technician intern for 10 to 12 weeks on-site. You will shadow and assist qualified electricians, learn to read blueprints, diagnose equipment, and perform maintenance on electrical systems.

The role requires enrollment in a 2-year Electrical Technology program, strong communication, and US work authorization; compensation is $23.00 per hour with flexible scheduling and relocation stipend if out of state.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited 2 year Electrical Technology program.
• Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist qualified electricians performing the following: use measuring/diagnostic devices, inspect for problems, work with wires with hand tools, repair/replace components in motors, generators and electrical fixtures.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams; plan and prepare work orders using blueprints and drawings.
• Receive training in electrical safety and other electrical/maintenance duties.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity to participate in our on-site summer internship. The team is seeking an Electrical Technician intern that can join the team for approximately 10 to 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands on industry experience. The person in this role will report to the Associate EMRA Leader and will be gain experience in Electrical Technology in an manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist qualified electricians performing the following:
  • Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment
  • Inspect for problems
  • Work with wires using hand tools while handling small components
  • Repair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, conductors, switches and varied electrical fixtures
  • Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment
  • Perform defensive repair and preservation of field, plant and shop for electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Plan and prepare work orders or instructions utilizing blueprints, sketches, and drawings
• Receive training in electrical safety and other electrical/maintenance duties
