The ideal candidate has an associate degree in electrical engineering technology and hands-on experience with soldering, wiring control panels, and using test equipment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in electrical engineering technology.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, relays, contactors, circuit breakers).
  • Experience soldering electrical components and PCB assemblies.
  • Experience wiring control panels and wiring harnesses.
  • Knowledge of OrCAD or similar schematic capture CAD software.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings/diagrams and documentation.
  • Knowledge of test equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of BOM/ECO lifecycle process.
  • Able to handle heavy items like power supplies and assemblies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fast learner open to learning new systems/components.
  • Familiarity with Opto22 modules a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality.
  • Wire, assemble, check, test, and install electrical panels, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment.
  • Solder, assemble, check, test, and install PCB boards.
  • Respond quickly to service requests and troubleshoot/repair/replace electrical systems.
  • Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted.
  • Install new equipment and wire to expand infrastructure as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule; log services and report progress to management.
  • Create, modify, and maintain Drawings/BOM/ECOs/Work Instructions/documentation.
  • Organize electrical/mechanical parts and maintain local engineering stock.

Job description

We are hiring immediately for an Electrical Technician in the Boston, MA metro area. This position will be responsible for assembling, repairing, debugging, and diagnosing electrical controllers. Occasionally assemble and debug PCB boards. Install and wire up power supplies and controllers in a tool. Respond to requests for electrical repairs and breakdowns as well as perform routine maintenance and upgrade equipment as necessary. This position requires knowledge of how to troubleshoot the basic functioning of equipment. We prefer applicants who have at least two years of professional technician experience. Salary is estimated at $75,000-$80,000.

Required:
  • An associate degree or higher in electrical engineering technology.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical components like resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, relays, contactors, circuit breakers, etc.
  • Experience in soldering electrical components and PCB assemblies.
  • Experience wiring control panels and making wiring harnesses.
  • Knowledge of OrCAD or similar schematic capture or CAD drawing or electric wiring diagram software.
  • Ability to understand and create technical drawings/diagrams and documentation.
  • Knowledge of test equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.
  • Proficient in using manual and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge about the BOM/ECO life cycle process.
  • Able to handle heavy items like heavy power supplies and assemblies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner who is open and eager to learn new systems and components.
  • Understanding of analog and digital signals/circuits is a plus.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with the use of Opto22 modules and components is a plus.
