NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company is seeking experienced Inside Plant technicians (1–2 years preferred) for commercial low‑voltage installations across schools, hospitals, manufacturing, and office buildings.

You will install cable pathways, pull and terminate Cat6/6A, build out IDF/data closets, test cables with Fluke tools, read prints, and ensure grounding, fire stopping, and safety standards are met. Shifts vary by project.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years experience in low-voltage/inside-plant work.
  • Experience installing cable pathways, pulling and terminating cables.
  • Familiar with Cat6/Cat6A jacks, patch panels and IDF buildouts.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prepare pathways and j-hooks for new cabling installations.
  • Pull copper, coaxial and fiber in various environments.
  • Build out data closets with ladder racks and racks.
  • Terminate data jacks and install faceplates.
  • Route Cat6/6A cables to patch panels and terminate.
  • Test Cat6/6A cabling and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Test copper and fiber with power meter and light source (Fluke).
  • Read construction prints and identify cabling pathways per specs.
  • Comply with grounding/bonding procedures and fire stopping requirements.
  • Follow BICSI, building codes and safety standards.

Job description

We are currently looking for experienced Inside Plant technicians (preferably 1-2 years) in the low voltage industry.

Our workload is all commercial (schools, hospitals, manufacturing, office buildings, new build and existing upgrades).

We are looking for technicians that have experience installing cable pathways, pulling cables, terminating Cat6/Cat6A jacks and patch panels, IDF buildouts and testing cables.

  • Pull copper, coaxial and fiber optic cable in various types of environments
  • Build out data closets – install ladder rack, cable trays, data racks and rack-mount equipment
  • Terminate data jacks at station end and install faceplates
  • Route and dress Cat6/6A cables at the rack and terminate at patch panel
  • Test Cat6/6A cable installations, and perform basic troubleshooting
  • Assist with testing copper and fiber optic cable with power meter and light source (Fluke)
  • Read construction prints and identify cabling pathways, maintaining compliance with construction project specifications
  • Comply with and use industry standard grounding and bonding procedures
  • Utilize approved fire stopping methods and materials
  • Comply with all BICSI, building code and safety standards

The candidates would be supplementing existing crews, working behind our top level project leads.

We have several shift openings:

Normal 8hr shifts start anywhere from 6AM to 7AM.

Afternoon shifts (customer driven) can start at 2PM.

Night shift (project specific starting either 5/31 or 6/1) will be 7PM – 5AM

We are looking for technicians to supplement any and all of these crews / projects.

Their shifts would start and end at the jobsites.

Candidates must have composite toe work boots and their own hand tools.

Candidates must also have a valid Driver’s License, and clear background check and drug test.
