Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Electrical Integration Engineer to join the Lunar Permanence team. You will design, integrate, and verify electrical and avionics subsystems across the lunar lander and payloads, defining interfaces and C&DH architectures while ensuring safety-critical requirements are met.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Thermal, Propulsion, Avionics, and Software teams and contribute to risk mitigation, test planning, and budgets for mission operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems engineering.
  • Experience with command & data handling, avionics, or electrical power subsystems.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft electrical interfaces and standards.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent resident, or approved refugee/asylee status.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work as an Electrical Integration Engineer within the System Integration and Analysis Team on the lunar lander, focusing on the design, integration, and verification of electrical and avionics subsystems across the spacecraft and its payloads. You will define electrical interfaces, develop command and data handling architectures, and ensure the electrical system meets mission and safety‑critical requirements. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Design and develop electrical systems and interfaces for the spacecraft and its payloads
  • Develop and implement command and data handling (C&DH) architectures for spacecraft subsystems and payloads
  • Define and document electrical interfaces between the spacecraft bus and payloads
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems integration with Mechanical, Thermal, Fluid, Propulsion, Avionics, Communications, and Software Systems.
  • Develop electrical test plans and procedures to verify system performance
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks related to electrical systems
  • Create and analyze budgets to ensure adequate electrical power, data, and channels for mission operations
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 4+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one of the following: command & data handling subsystems, avionics, or electrical power subsystems
  • Knowledge of spacecraft electrical interfaces and standards
  • Familiarity with wire harness design and connectivity solutions for space applications
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design and integration
  • Experience with power budget development and analysis
  • Experience with payload accommodation and integration for spacecraft
  • Knowledge of spacecraft bus architectures and subsystem interactions
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, CAN, or other spacecraft data bus protocols
  • Familiarity with electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) development and operation
  • Experience with requirements development and management for electrical systems
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations for spacecraft
  • Background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
Base Pay Range For

WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
