Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience.
  • Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician License preferred or required depending on jurisdiction.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and construction practices.
  • OSHA regulations and jobsite safety requirements understanding.
  • Proven leadership supervising multiple crews and projects.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Legible communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Pre-employment drug test, background and reference checks passable.

Job description

Electrical Superintendent supervises and coordinates electrical construction activities on job sites. They ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage crews and subcontractors effectively.

Safety
  1. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all assigned projects.
  2. Ensure all field personnel follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  3. Monitor jobsite conditions to maintain safe working environments.
  4. Participate in safety planning, toolbox talks, and job hazard analysis reviews.
  5. Lead or assist with incident investigations and corrective action plans.
  6. Ensure proper documentation and reporting of safety incidents and near misses.
  7. Work with safety personnel to implement improvements in safety performance.
Leadership and Supervision
  1. Provide leadership and direction to General Foremen, Foremen, and field crews.
  2. Support workforce planning, crew assignments, and manpower adjustments.
  3. Mentor and develop field leadership including Foremen and apprentices.
  4. Maintain clear expectations for safety, productivity, and workmanship.
  5. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a professional jobsite culture.
  6. Address performance issues and recommend personnel actions when necessary.
Planning and Scheduling
  1. Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure proper execution of work.
  2. Coordinate with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules.
  3. Plan manpower, equipment, and material needs for all phases of construction.
  4. Identify and resolve potential scheduling conflicts with other trades.
  5. Ensure work activities align with overall project timelines and production goals.
  6. Monitor project progress and adjust resources as necessary to maintain schedule.
  7. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Quality Control
  1. Ensure all electrical installations meet project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
  2. Review drawings, blueprints, and scope requirements with field supervisors.
  3. Conduct jobsite inspections to verify quality and workmanship.
  4. Address deficiencies and implement corrective actions when needed.
  5. Identify opportunities to improve work methods, efficiency, and quality.
Project Coordination
  1. Serve as the primary field liaison between project management and field crews.
  2. Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades on project execution.
  3. Participate in project meetings to communicate progress, challenges, and solutions.
  4. Resolve jobsite issues that impact production, safety, or schedule.
  5. Ensure work is performed in accordance with contract documents and project requirements.
Administration
  1. Review and approve daily reports from foremen and field supervisors.
  2. Monitor project productivity, manpower usage, and labor costs.
  3. Assist with project forecasting, planning, and reporting.
  4. Maintain documentation related to progress, delays, and field changes.
  5. Support project managers with project reporting and coordination.
  6. Ensure accurate timekeeping and documentation from field personnel.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience.
  • Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician License (preferred or required depending on jurisdiction).

Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly supervises multiple foremen and field crews. Responsibilities include directing work activities, coordinating manpower, evaluating performance, supporting hiring decisions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is frequently performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must have the ability to lift, push, pull, and move moderately heavy tools and equipment related to the trade. The employee must be able to work at elevated heights, small confined spaces, and various weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
