Job summary

SMC Corporation is seeking an Electrical Application Technical Support engineer to provide technical support for internal and external customers. The role requires creativity, product design knowledge, and the ability to evaluate and research product applications from first principles.

The successful candidate will read and interpret pneumatic and electrical schematics, troubleshoot protocols and circuits, and communicate technical information clearly. Domestic and international travel (<15%) may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or technical engineering or equivalent education/experience as determined by management.
• Novice understanding of product development processes and project management principles.
• Novice understanding of tolerances, industrial processes, schematics, and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer requirements to meet outputs.
• Conduct technical application evaluations and report results to customers.
• Communicate technical knowledge and specifications to customers.
• Read, interpret, troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot and configure product communication protocols.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical circuits.
• Review data using CAD models and product documentation in corporate systems.
• Perform guided research and summarize data results.
• Complete tasks using predefined departmental processes.
• Provide hands-on technical support for customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate on team tasks and participate in training or trade shows as needed.
• Record daily activities and travel domestically/internationally (less than 15%).
• All other duties as assigned.
