Job summary

HJD Capital Electric is hiring an Electrical Service Technician (Journeyman Electrician) to diagnose, repair, maintain, and install commercial electrical systems in the San Antonio area. You will perform service calls, small projects, tenant improvements, and emergency responses, working with a customer-focused team.

The ideal candidate has a Texas Journeyman license, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Texas Journeyman Electrician license (TDLR).
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic experience in commercial electrical systems.
• Knowledge of the NEC and industry best practices.
• Ability to read drawings/blueprints and perform installations with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls.
• Perform service calls, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, panels, lighting systems, and associated equipment.
• Perform small commercial electrical installations, tenant finish-outs, remodels, and special projects.
• Inspect existing systems and recommend upgrades or corrective actions.
• Test systems and components for safe, reliable operation.
• Replace conduit, wiring, breakers, disconnects, and other components as needed.
• Install and service switchgear, transformers, distribution equipment, and branch circuitry.
• Communicate professionally with customers, facility managers, and project stakeholders.
• Complete service documents, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
• Manage service work and small projects from start to finish.
• Maintain safety and company standards.
• Ensure all work complies with electrical codes.

Job Summary

Our Service & Special Projects Team is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician / Electrical Service Technician to support our growing service operations. This position focuses on trouble shooting, repairs, maintenance, small commercial electrical installations, tenant improvements, special projects, and emergency response services for commercial and industrial customers.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, customer-focused, and experienced in diagnosing electrical issues quickly and safely while maintaining professionalism in occupied facilities. You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of service work and project-based installations, giving you variety in your day-to-day responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls.
• Perform service calls, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, panels, lighting systems, and associated equipment.
• Perform small commercial electrical installations, tenant finish-outs, remodels, and special projects.
• Install new circuits, feeders, panels, transformers, lighting systems, receptacles, and electrical equipment for commercial clients.
• Inspect existing electrical systems and recommend corrective actions or upgrades.
• Test electrical systems and components to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Replace conduit, wiring, breakers, disconnects, and other electrical components as needed.
• Install and service switchgear, transformers, distribution equipment, and branch circuitry.
• Communicate professionally with customers, facility managers, and project stakeholders.
• Complete service documentation, work orders, and inspection reports accurately.
• Manage service work and small project installations from start to completion.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety and company standards.

• Ensure all work complies with electrical codes.

What We’re Looking For

• Required : TDLR Journeyman Electrician license in the state of Texas.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic experience in commercial electrical systems.

• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry best practices.
• Ability to size conductors, interpret drawings and blueprints, and complete electrical installations and repairs with minimal supervision
• Ability to drive a company service vehicle and travel to customer sites throughout the assigned service area.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Preferred: Experience with switchgear, transformers, motor controls, lighting controls, and power distribution systems.
• Experience servicing and installing electrical systems in commercial and industrial facilities, including schools, hospitals, office buildings, high-rises, data centers, and distribution/warehouse facilities.

Schedule & Travel Expectations

• Primary work hours are daytime service operations.
• Occasional night and after-hours work may be required to support customer needs and minimize operational disruptions.
• Participation in an on-call rotation is required for emergency service response.
• Periodic travel throughout South Texas and surrounding areas may be required, including occasional overnight stays depending on project or customer needs.
