Job summary

O’Connell Electric Company is seeking an Electrical Technical Safety Trainer – Outside Line to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on substation, transmission, and distribution practices. The role focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and practical hands-on instruction for employees and apprentices.

The trainer will collaborate with project managers, safety teams, and field supervisors, delivering classroom and field sessions across facilities, yards, and job sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years as Journeyman Lineman.
• Extensive hands-on experience with low, medium, and high-voltage systems.
• Proven expertise in Substation, Distribution, Transmission, and URD Systems, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Prior teaching, training, or mentorship experience preferred.
• Clear and effective communication, organization, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and implement training programs for electrical practices across HV systems.
• Deliver classroom-based and hands-on training at company facilities, yards, and job sites.
• Maintain training records, certifications, and documentation for all employees.
• Coordinate with third-party training vendors and industry partners for scheduling and compensation.
• Conduct needs assessments and field visits to identify skill gaps and training needs.
