Overview

As an Electrical Project Engineer you will manage electrical substation projects from design through procurement and construction, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead providing project coordination, guidance, and expertise.
• Support substation projects up to 765kV, including detailed design and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
• Develop protection and control design deliverables: protective relays, panel arrangements, single‑line and three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring, and equipment wiring.
• Develop physical design deliverables: yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
• Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
• Guide and mentor junior team members.
• Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction.
• Communicate and coordinate activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Present proposals, designs and project activities.
• Travel to client and vendor offices and project sites as required.
• Prepare and manage design budgets and schedules.
• Support business development or pursuit activities.
• Develop and provide guidance on design standards, codes, and best practices.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams on complex projects, managing schedules, budgets, and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high‑voltage substation design (physical and/or protection & controls).
• Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation projects.
• QA/QC review experience.
• Experience coordinating with clients, multidisciplinary leads, and project managers.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Capability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements.

Compensation Transparency

• State of California: $125,879 – $237,640
• State of Massachusetts: $131,352 – $219,360
