Job summary

Jobtailor in Kansas is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Civil Transportation projects. You will lead planning and design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, traffic signals, and movable bridge control systems, coordinating across disciplines.

You will develop scope of work, estimate efforts, and ensure deliverables meet schedule and budget. Mentoring team members and coordinating with clients and stakeholders are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 5+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
• Understanding impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
• Coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines.
• Prepare high-quality deliverables on time and within budget and scope.
• Electrical engineering design for Civil Transportation projects.
• Design low voltage power distribution, street lighting, traffic signals, area lighting, and other electrical systems.
• Design power distribution and control systems for Movable Bridges.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Prepare electrical designs responsive to project needs.
• Help schedule and perform quality control duties of project team members.
• Coordinate with contractor, construction engineers, other consulting engineers, and utility personnel.
• Review and approve potential construction change orders, shop drawings and change orders.
• Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of design team work.

Responsibilities

• Plan and distribute discipline-specific work, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
• Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Develop scope of work and level of effort for projects within discipline.
• Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team’s design work.
• Mentor team to achieve project objectives.
• Coordinate technical aspects with client counterpart and teaming partners.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
