Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer for their Washington, D.C. office to drive innovative solutions in mission-critical systems. This role involves leading engineering design processes and ensuring reliability in data center operations.

Qualifications

Electrical Project Engineer - Mission Critical

As an Electrical Project Engineer - Mission Critical in our Washington, D.C. office, you will help our data center clients trust in the reliability of their mission‑critical systems to preserve data, protect assets, and save lives. You will also lead efforts to achieve energy‑efficient building solutions and help operators safely and effectively manage the data center.

In this position, you will be responsible for engineering design processes on assigned projects within a particular discipline. You will develop innovative and unique engineering solutions to align with project, client, and project partner needs, and lead the discipline team in implementing those solutions.

Qualifications
  • BSEE/BSAE (or another engineering discipline) from an ABET accredited program.
  • 8+ years of experience designing power distribution and lighting building systems in technically sophisticated facilities.
  • Knowledge of critical data center electrical and mechanical equipment/systems.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing, implementing, and/or operating mission‑critical facilities (specifically colocation and/or hyperscale data center facilities), including medium and low‑voltage power distribution, and backup power/emergency systems.
  • Professional engineering registration required.
  • Proficiency in computer operation for engineering design programs (Revit MEP, AutoCAD, SKM PowerTools, ETAP, Navisworks) preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards, including National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
