AE2S in Billings, MT seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to design and deliver electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, municipal systems, and process plants. You will work with senior engineers and project managers across power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, SCADA, and controls.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, learning from experienced engineers, and growing into technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 4+ years of electrical system design experience.
• Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for project and business development.
• Ability to pass pre-employment onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering services for planning, studies, design, bidding and construction administration.
• Manage performance of assigned project team members.
• Maintain existing client relationships and pursue new opportunities.
• Identify and manage project opportunities.
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
• Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.

The Electrical Project Engineer is designed for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning from experienced engineers, and seeing their designs turn into real-world infrastructure.

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you’ll support and deliver electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, municipal systems, and process facilities. You’ll work across power distribution and generation, lighting, instrumentation and controls, and SCADA systems - collaborating closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. You’ll gain exposure to increasingly complex projects while developing the technical judgment needed to take on more responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional electrical engineering services for projects including planning, studies, design, bidding and construction administration
• Manage performance of assigned project team members
• Maintain existing client relationships and enhance pursued relationships with clients
• Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
• Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
• Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings
• Develop new markets, client relationships, etc.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• 4+ years of electrical system design experience
• Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred

• 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in water and/or wastewater treatment
• Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
• Medium voltage experience
• Scope and fee development specific to electrical design
