Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electrical Engineer to engage in system-level electrical design and integration for advanced programs. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, review schematics, and help develop Product Definition Packages through formal review processes.

The role requires a STEM degree, strong communication skills, and the ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance. Expect a fast-paced environment with collaboration across multiple sites and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
• Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates
• Work in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation, diverse assignment environment with collaborative and team settings across all levels
• Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams
• Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products
• Conduct electrical analysis and/or develop LRU electrical designs
• Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs) / Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process
• Review engineering deliverables such as one‑lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies
• Perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro‑mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system‑level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints
• Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organization, communication, etc.

Basic Qualifications

• Engineer Electrical
  • bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 2years of experience, or 0years of experience with a master’s degree
• Principal Engineer Electrical
  • bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5years of experience, or 2years of experience with a master’s degree, or 0years of experience with a PhD
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time
• Familiarity with industry/Military standards and codes (IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEC60332, IEEE299, UL, NEC770, ISO9001)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
• Strong written and verbal communication for preparing technical reports, specifications, and presenting design concepts to stakeholders
• Experience with electrical designs and/or analysis of subsystems or components

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems
• Experience creating wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) documents
• Strong understanding of cable construction, materials, and performance characteristics (e.g., voltage rating, current carrying capacity, shielding)
• Knowledgeable of IPC/WHMA‑A‑620
• Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent
• Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools for cable design (Siemens Capital)
• Ability to perform cable sizing, voltage drop, and ampacity calculations using analytical methods or software
• Experience managing design revisions, change orders, and interfacing with cross‑functional teams
• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting
• Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities

Work Schedule

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
