Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Test Technician II to join our Electrical Power Services team. The role performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning on electrical power distribution equipment in commercial, industrial, utility, and mission-critical environments.

Requirements include 2–5 years of electrical testing experience, knowledge of electrical theory and power systems, and proficiency with test instruments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED? (not applicable)
• Two to five years of experience in electrical testing, field service, commissioning, maintenance, or related power systems work.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical specs.
• Knowledge of electrical safe work practices including LOTO, OSHA, NFPA 70E, arc-flash/shock protection.
• Experience using electrical test instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, maintenance, and troubleshooting testing of electrical power distribution equipment.
• Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and document work on switchgear, breakers, relays, transformers, MCCs, ATS, cables, batteries, grounding, metering, and control equipment.
• Set up, operate, and maintain electrical test equipment safely and accurately.
• Analyze test results and identify abnormal conditions requiring corrective action.
• Complete JHAs, arc‑flash reviews, and pre‑job safety planning activities.
• Communicate findings and project status to supervisors, managers, and customers.
