Job summary

Knight Electric, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Journeyman - Retail Distribution Systems Technician to perform electrical installation and service tasks on projects across the United States.

This traveling role requires reading blueprints, bending conduit, pulling wire, installing fixtures, and supervising apprentices. Based on license and location, compensation ranges and benefits include PTO, housing and per diem, travel paid, and full medical, dental, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 8,000+ verifiable hours in the electrical trade.
• Current State Electrical Journeyman license.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical theory, NEC and local codes.
• Ability to travel by car and plane with overnight trips.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
• Strong math calculation skills.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Proficient with hand tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install and connect control systems and power distribution equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings; supervise apprentices.
• Diagnose and repair circuit problems using testing instruments.
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations.
• Perform rough-in layouts and generate materials lists.

Licensed Journeyman - Retail Distribution Systems Technician

About This Role

Perform electrical installation and service tasks to required specifications, including bending conduit, pulling wire, installing fixtures, devices, plates, switchgear, and branch circuits. Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings. Mentor, direct, and supervise apprentices.

Location and Travel:

This is a traveling role with projects in various locations throughout the US.

• You can live anywhere in the United States, preference to Midwest and Southeast.

Compensation And Benefits

• Total compensation between $42.00 - $55.00 per hour
• Based on state electrical license(s), experience and supervision, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and connect control systems, power distribution systems, electrical switchgear, including components such as switchboards, panels, load centers, motor control centers, breakers, transformers, and disconnect switches. Use multi-meters for measuring voltage, amperage, resistance, and more.
• Connect branch circuits, feeders, and controls, including terminations, panels, and equipment.
• Diagnose, repair and resolve problems with circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments, schematics, and diagrams.
• Ensure all work complies with codes and safety regulations.
• Perform layout for various tasks, including overhead and in-wall rough-in.
• Generate complete materials lists for assigned scopes of work.
• Test and troubleshoot electrical systems. Test circuit continuity for compatibility and safety.
• Maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
• Assist other employees as needed.
• Inspect jobs upon completion for quality, safety, and cleanliness.
• Maintain good working relationships with team.
• Observe safe work practices and follow safety procedures. Assist team in maintaining a safe work environment. Implement safety procedures and precautions.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 8,000+ verifiable hours worked in the electrical trade
• Current State Electrical Journeyman license.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Advanced to expert knowledge of electrical theory, NEC and local codes
• Ability to travel by car and plane, with overnight travel for extended periods of time.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Advanced knowledge of hand tools, testing equipment, and other commonly used trade equipment.
• Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostics ability. Embrace quality control processes. Good attention to detail. Follow process and procedure.
• Current OSHA 10 certification.

• Current Elevated Work Platform certification
• Current Lock Out/Tag Out Training certification
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Current NFPA 70E Arc Flash Training certification

Working Conditions

Work is performed on construction sites in a variety of weather conditions.
