Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. is located in Gaylord, Minnesota, the Healthy Heartland of Minnesota. Gaylord is in south central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the county seat, Gaylord is the “Hub of Sibley County.” The site produces liquid egg, hard‑cook egg, and precooked eggs such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation maintenance and reliability services, partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance, operational teams, equipment suppliers, and other plant support.
  • Assist, develop, and execute electrical/instrumentation preventive maintenance (PM), planned deterioration management (PDM), reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), precision maintenance (Precision CM), and operator‑care programs.
  • Install, troubleshoot, adjust, startup, and perform process‑improvement projects for electrical/instrumentation equipment.
  • Maintain current regulatory licensure and certifications, including Electrical, MFI MEL1, and NEC journeyman level as required.
  • Comply with all Safety, Food Safety, and Quality policies and procedures, reinforcing Safety as a core value.
  • Work scheduled shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Use the MFI‑approved CMMS for reliability reporting and decision‑making.
  • Participate in root‑cause analysis, reliability training, vendor coordination, and troubleshooting with plant personnel.
  • Promote Michael Foods culture and values, modeling safe work behaviors and maintaining sanitary conditions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree, two‑year technical certificate, or relevant combination of experience demonstrating electrical/instrumentation technical aptitude and leadership.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industry or manufacturing environment.
  • Trained and competent in MFI MEL1 skills.
  • Electrical license or certification per regional or national regulations.
  • NEC code journeyman level training.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment‑specific electronics diagrams.
  • Understanding of PLCs and equipment automation.
  • Prior experience in SAP.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and administrative communication skills.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, stand and walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
