Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Englewood, Colorado is seeking a senior electrical/instrumentation & controls designer to lead project teams through power plant design and upgrade initiatives.

This hybrid role combines three on-site days with two remote days; you will review grounding layouts, cable schedules, raceways, electrical notes, and equipment layouts while guiding staff and coordinating with project management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent technical design experience.
  • 15+ years electrical/instrumentation and controls design experience, including 2D/3D.
  • Experience reviewing Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls deliverables.
  • Extensive drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation on power plants or large facilities.
  • Strong drafting practices and ability to interface with multi-discipline teams.
  • Experience developing grounding layouts, underground duct banks, cable tray layouts, instrument location plans, and area classifications.
  • Familiarity with energy & industrial facility design processes.
  • Valued: Associates Degree in CAD; experience with AutoCAD & MicroStation.
  • Design experience for single-line, relay & metering diagrams; MV & 480V systems.
  • Familiarity with digital control systems; ability to travel for meetings.

Job description

Responsibilities

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.You'llspend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work and lead others in a project team environment in the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems.

You will be responsible for the review, supervision and providing technical guidance in the production of design deliverables, including the following:

  • Cable schedules
  • Grounding layout
  • Underground raceway layouts
  • Above ground raceway layouts
  • Electrical Notes and Details
  • Electrical Equipment Layouts
  • Lighting Layouts
  • Work with management in the development and establishment of project scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Oversee staff assignments, evaluations and career development for assigned personnel on the large or several small projects.
  • Lead multiple teams across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate directly with project management and project discipline leads.
  • Develop, monitor and control project costs and schedules.
  • Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.

  • Extensivedrafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (i.e.AutoCAD or MicroStation)onpower plants orotherlarge-scaleindustrialfacilitiesprojects
  • A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
  • The ability tointerfaceand communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plantor large-scale industrial facilitiesdesign process.
  • Experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, instrument location plans, area classification plans, and electrical equipment location drawings.

Valued but notrequiredskills and experience:

  • Associates Degree in ComputerAided Design
  • Experience usingbothAutoCAD and MicroStation software.
  • Design experience in the development of single-line, andrelay and metering diagrams, including medium-voltage and 480V systems.
  • Familiarity with digital control systems
  • The ability to perform the following:
  • Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for installers and electricians.
  • Assistengineers withinitialdesign requirements.
  • Conceptualize plans and details to accurately convey wiring termination requirements.
  • The ability tointerfaceand communicate with engineering and design teams of otherdisciplinesEnergy & Industrial facilities design process.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to create; interconnection wiring diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, loop diagrams, area classification plans,
  • Experience with3D Lighting Calculationprograms, and experiencein Heat trace designpreferred.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, Instrumentationwiringand provide I&C input into P&IDs.
  • Abilityto travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits,assistin data gathering, etc.

Compensation Range

$92,270.00 - $140,380.00
