Job summary

The City of Topeka is seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to join its Planning and Development Services team as an Electrical Inspector. This entry level inspection position will conduct inspections to ensure compliance with Municipal Building Codes and related ordinances, and support safe electrical practices.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Entry rate of pay is $22.07 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
• Electrical Inspector Certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential and commercial buildings during and after construction.
• Identify and document violations and unsafe conditions.
• Issue notices and orders for corrective actions.
• Write reports detailing inspection findings.
